Keith Howland: CDs

Here is the new CD from HLMP B aka Howland, Laug, Morrison, Pinnick & Babko!  This one took a bit to get out but it was worth the wait.  Great to make some new music with all my buddies again and share it with you all.  Check it out!

This is the one that started it all almost 10 years ago! An all instrumental fusion/rock collaboration with drummer (and fellow Chicago member) Tris Imboden. Virtually all of the members of Chicago are featured on this disc along with special guests Jeff Babko, Mark Russo, David Garfield, Steve Weingart, Kevin Ricard, Lance Morrison, Jimmy Earl, and the amazing Horace Williamson. This CD held a top 5 spot on CDBaby's jazz fusion chart for many years.

This is the most recent addition to my collection of CDs and it's the most "free" of all of them.  It all started when my brother Craig came to visit over the Thanksgiving holiday a couple of years ago.  Craig and I have always "jammed" together since we were kids so we decided to go into my studio and do just that.  Just the two of us played for about an hour and the result is the "KeCraig" CD.  We had no songs, riffs or ideas...it was all improvisation!  After listening back to what we had done, I did a bit of editing, added bass (yeah, Wheeler Castlebridge is really me), and then had Jeff Babko add keys to about half of the tracks.   The end result is a pretty cool collection of instrumental tunes and probably the most accurate representation of my playing when "no one is looking".   I really had no intention of this ever meeting the public but I couldn't resist once it was "KeCraig"!

Here is a collaboration between former Chicago guitarist Chris Pinnick (P), drummer Matt Laug (L), bassist Lance Morrison (M) and myself (H) recorded back in 2003.  A bit heavier than The Howland/Imboden Project with more guitar dominance, all instrumental with Jeff Babko adding just the right amount of keys to balance things out.  A new CD from this band coming soon!

Just as it says....This is the one and only performance by The Howland/Imboden Project at the world famous "Baked Potato" jazz club in North Hollywood, California.  The band consisted of Tris and myself along with Lance Morrison on bass, and Steve Weingart on keys.  You can hear the warmth of this tiny little club in the recording!  Many of LA's great jazz and fusion players have played the Potato including Larry Carlton, Steve Lukather (Los Lobotomys), Michael Landau (Karizma) just to name a few.  I was there weekly when I first moved to Los Angeles and was fortunate to have seen the late great Jeff Pocaro on drums many times.  Great memories.....

The night after The Howland/Imboden Project performed at the world famous "Baked Potato" jazz club, I brought in my other band HLMP for it's first and only live performance.  The band included Chris Pinnick, Lance Morrison, Matt Laug and myself and we were joined during the second set by the great Jeff Babko.  Some real special moments captured here!
